Thomas Shufflebottom, leading Liverpool Methodist, left in his will, published this week, the residue of his C.Sa.ooo fortune to Liverpool Cathedral. He bequeathed .£52(1 a year Io his wife.

■ died. We were perfectly happy to'gciher. lie was a china merchant and jiiud a prosperous business in Liverpool. In the early days when he was struggling, I helped him in the shop; I looked after the business while he went buying.” Mrs Shufflebottom will probably have lo give up her home and dispense with the car and chauffeur. A Liverpool Cathedral official said: "Of courst*. wo are delighted. All the same, we cannot understand it.”
