RUMANIAN IRON GUARD
CABINET’S SECRET SESSION

The Bucharest correspondent o£ the “Daily Telegraph" says that the inner circle of the Rumanian Cabinet held a secret session for almost two days at the house of the Prime Minister (M. Tatarascu). Measures to deal with the Iron Guard's threatening attitude were discussed. M. Tatarascu declared that the police would take the strongest action against a demonstration in favour of Prince Nicholas in the quarrel with King Carol. Professor G.erota, surgeon to the Royal Family and a member of the Iron Guard, was arrested and charged with sedition.
M. Philipescu, a Conservative, attacked the Iron Guards in a speech declaring that every Iron‘Guard outrage would be answered by’ tenfold reprisals by the Democratic. Party. Meanwhile, General Cantacuznn, Commander of the Iron Guard, read at a meeting of the guard a letter from Prince Nicholas, stating that he did not. refuse to obey King Carol; also that he did' not renounce his rank, but was degraded by’ the King. April 19, 2.30 p.m.). LONDON, April IS. 'rhe “News-Chronicle’s" Bucharest correspondent discounts the suggestions of an Iron Guard coup, ami declares that the city is as tranquil as London. The King has the support, ol a well-paid and well-disciplined army, free of political influence. King Carol discussed the situation with the “News-Chronicle's" . correspondent. declaring: I am not really anxious.
The correspondent says that King Carol undoubtedly holds the Roumanians’ destiny in his hands. All classes agree that he averted political chaos, and steadied the national purse. Any’ alteration in regime is unthinkable.
