WEDDINGS
BOURKE—ELLERY; The wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday, of Ruby, only daughter of Mrs. E. Ellery and the late Mr. Ellery, of Karoro, and John, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bourke, of Cobden. Rev. W. Beaumont officiated and Miss V. Millar presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. R. Harrison, of Christchurch, wore a frock of ivory silk velvet cut on simple lines, fitting to the knees and falling in a long train. The waistline was finished with a silver girdle. Her tulle veil edged with narrow satin ribbon was held in place by a halo of orange blossom. She carried a trailing armlet of white chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern. The bride was attended by Miss Doris Kitchingham, who wore a tunic frock of lavender lace, with twisted velvet sash. She carried an armlet of pink and mauve dalias and maidenhair fern. Mr. Pat Bourke was best man.
A reception was held at Harker’s, the guests being received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy costume with hat to tone. When Mr. and Mrs. Bourke left later by car for Nelson and Christchurch, the bride wore a frock of fawn wool georgette under a brown astrachan coat, with hat and shoes to tone.
KEITH—BURROWS. The wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church, on Saturday afternoon, of Jessie, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Burrows, Ahaura, and James, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Keith, Cobden. Rev. W. A. Beaumont officiated, and Miss V. Millar was at the organ. Miss K. Frost sang “Ave Maria.”
The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in a unique shepherd’s beige lace frock, relieved with chocolate applique.* Her hat to tone was trimmed with orange and brown aigrette, and she carried an armlet bouquet of apricot shaded dahlias. The bridesmaid, Miss Pearle Simons, of Blackball, wore a frock of multicoloured silk marqitissette. featuring the Coronation shades of Cossack green and burnt rust. Her hat of celophane had similar colours, introduced. She carried an armlet bouquet of lemon and orange dahlias. Mr I). Hyndman was best man.
The reception was held at. Herb Moore's, where the bride’s mother received the guests, wearing a brown ensemble, with hat to tone. Mrs Keith wore a navy costume, with hat to match. Mr and Mrs J. Keith left by the rail-car. for Christchurch, where they will reside. The bride travelled in a lace jersey cloth frock, in St. James rose, under a brown astrakhan coat, [with hat, shoes and gloves to tone.
