SOUTHLAND FARMERS

DISTRICT EXCURSIONS. The Southland Farmers’ excursion narty has so far been favoured with ideal weather for the West Coast tour. Yesterday, the visitors were taken by cars to Barrytown and Punakaiki. some going as far as Mabel Bay. They were the guests of the ladies of Barrytown and Punakaiki for lunch, and were welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. F. Roud. A n inspection was made of the White’s Electric and Barrytown dredges and the party were also conducted over Messrs Apted and Dale s property. At Punakaiki visits were made to the v blowholes, and some of the party visited the caves and Bororar i beach. The members of the party spent a “free” evening in Greymouth, and this morning left on an excursion to Lake Brunner, half going by cars to Mitchell’s and half by the express to Te Kinga. The excursionists were the guests ‘of the ladies of the Otira line district at lunch at Te Kinga and will return to Greymouth by the opposite route to which they took this morning. There are no fixed engagements for this evening. To-morrow, there is to be a rail excursion to Inangahua. Junction, in which the general public are invited to participate. On . Monday morning a visit will be paid to the State mines at Dunollie and the party will leave for Hokitika by the 4.45 p.m. train.
