MINISTERIAL SALARIES

LABOUR PARTY PROPOSALS RUGBY, April S. It is generally expected that the Government’s Bill for a revision of the salaries of Ministers of the,Crown, will be passed in its present form. The Parliamentary Labour Party decided to move an amendment which merely demands that an inquiry into

lhe respective duties of Ministers should precede a revision. It urges that, existing anomalies should be removed, that there should be rationalisation without any increase in the aggregate cost to the State, that there should be equality in the salaries of Cabinet Ministers, plus allowances for legitimate expenses, that the pension for Prime Ministers be agreed to in principle, and that the allowance for the Leader of the Opposition be also agreed to in principle.
