Authoritative quarters believe that the Duke of Windsor will make his home at Fort Belvedere if. and when, he returns to England. WORLD WAR HISTORY. NEW YORK, March 15. Doctor Shotwell, of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, has announced the completion of “The Social and Economic History of the World War.” It consists of 150 volumes. It is described as the first attempt to analyse the war in such a far-reach-ing manner. The authors and editors include 35 war-time Cabinet Ministers, belonging to many nations. The original volumes have been written in English, Italian, French, 1 German, Norweigian, Swedish, Danish, Czech and Hungarian. TEXTILE INDUSTRY. RUGBY. March 13. A technical conference to, be held in Washington under the auspices of the International Labour Organisation to consider matters which directly or indirectly may have a bearing on the improvement of social conditions in the textile industry will be attended bv a delegation representing the United Kingdom. This will comprise Lieu-tenant-Colonel A. J. Muirhead, Parliamentary Secretary to the-Ministry for Labour, as Government delegate. Mr. Thomas Ashurst, secretary of the Cotton Spinners’ and Manufacturers' Association. representing the employers, and Mr. Arthur Shaw, a member of the general council of the Trades Union Congress, representing the workers. Owing to the lack of medical attention in the country, while the cities are over-supplied with doctors, the Government has prepared a Bill, requiring new graduates to serve for some years in the country, before being permitted to buy a town practice.
