QUEEN’S CROWN

MOUNTED IN PLATINUM [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.] (Reed. March 16, 2.30 p.m.). LONDON, March 15. The Queen’s Coronation Crown will be mounted throughout in platinum, which has never before been used for this purpose. The foundation of the Crown is from the Royal circlet made for Queen Victoria, and often worn by Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary. It is composed of clusters, with large diamond centres and alternating ornaments. The new design is conventional, and was inspired by the Queen-, who is closely cooperating with the Crown jewellers. The jewels include the Kohinoor diamond.

Thirty personal friends dined with Their Majesties at Buckingham Palace, after which they were shown a talkie, in a nearby room. It is the first time Royal dinner guests have been thus entertained at the Palace.
