SHIELDS TO PETONE [PER PRESS association.] NEpSON, March 13. The united fire brigades’ demonstration concluded to-day. The winners of the three shields, the championship shield, the high-pressure shield, and the manual shield, were the Petone team, and gold medals were presented to the members. Four-men Motor Pump, from stand pipe: Petone 71 l-ssec, 1; Hastings, 74 4-ssec, 2; Waipukurau, 77 l-ssec, 3; Carterton, 77 2-ssec, 4; Hawera and Upper Hutt (equal) 5. During the running the Petone branch fell off, but the team’s protest against disqualification was upheld.
