AUSTRALIAN WHEAT
SHIPMENT FOR SQUTH ISLAND

AUCKLAND, March 12. .Because of the shortage of wheat in the South Island the Wheat .Committee has arranged for a shipment, of Australian milling, wheat to niTive by the Kekerangu on Tuesday. About 1000 tons of grain is ; beings shipped and will be distributed for poultry food. , The price has been fixed at o/< a bushel for a minimum quantity ol 1.0 sacks if taken delivery of at the ship s side, payment being cash-beforq-de-livery.. Proportionately higher prices have been fixed for f.q.r or f.o.b. buying 'and through store for smaller quantities. The present price is 6/10 a bushel through store. The wheat is expected to meet with a ready sa a. as there has been a fairly acute shoitage ou the market for some weeks past and merchants have been relying on old season’s fowl wheat. Suggestions were recently made that metchants would be forced to ration supplies until the new season’s crop is available about the beginning ol next month.
