DEPTH OF THE BAR. The depth of the bar and river at high water yesterday was:— Bar, 25ft.; river, 22ft. ARRIVED. Nil. SAILED. March 11.—Rata, s.s., 375 tons (Vasta), 9.10 p.m., for Tarakohe. IN PORT. Nil. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Karn, Wellington, to-morrow. Karepo, Port Ahuriri, Monday. Kiwitea, Westport, Monday. Rata, Nelson, Monday. PROJECTED DEPARTURES. Kiwitea, Auckland, early. Kami, Miramar, early. Karepo, Wellington, early. Rata. Tarakohe, early. SHIPPING NOTES. Hokitika left Hokitika, this morning, with timber for Wellington. She is expected to leave Wellington on Tuesday evening, with general cargo for Greymduth and Hokitika. Rata sailed last evening with coal for Tarakohe and Nelson. She is to return on Monday, to load for Tarakohe and New Plymouth. Karu left Wellington at 10 o'clock last night, with cargo for Greymouth. She discharges here to-morrow morning, and loads timber for Miramar, Wellington and Petone. Kiwitea left Wellington last night .for Westport and Greymouth, and completes loading here on Monday, for Auckland and Portland. Karepo is expected to leave Port Ahurir to-night for Greymouth, and loads here on Monday, for Wellington.

Kalingo is expected to load cargo at Newcastle about March 25, completing at Sydney and Eden, for Picton, Wanganui, Greymouth, in that order. SOS FOR CARGO VESSELS WASHINGTON, March 11. The Federal Communications Commission has ordered all American cargo ships to instal automatic SOS signals, before July 10.
