The Richmond 'by-election, made necessary by Sir William Ray’s resignation through ill-health; resulted as follows: — Major G. S. Harvie Watt (Conservative) •• •• 20,546 G. H. R. Rogers (Labour) .. 7,709 Majority for Watt, . • • • 12,837 ' At the 1935 election the polling was: Sir Williain Ray (Unionist) .. 30,433 L. Gassman (Labour) .. .. 10,953 Majority for Ray 19,480 FOREIGN CAPITAL ISSUES. [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS] RUGBY, February 25. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr Chamberlain), asked if he contemplated any modification of the present policy about foreign issues of capital, told the House of Commons that experience had confirmed the view that a measure of restriction; continued to be necessary in the public interest, and he had in the meantime no change in policy in view.
