WAR DECLARATION
PARIS DOCUMENT LOST. PARIS, January 3. The statement that the document of Germany’s declaration of war on France on August 2, 1914, has vanished fioiri the archives of the French Foreign Office is made by the “Matin.” The document was handed to M. Bienyenu-Martin, Minister’ of Justice by Baron von S'choen, German Ambassador to France, am) was duly filed. Professor Reriouvin, one of the Committee of Historians which in 1928 was charged with publishing the official documents relating to the origins of the Great War, throws fresh light on the disappearance of the paper containing the German declaration of war. Ho states in the “Matin” that he remembers seeing among the archives a dated manuscript which noted that the document was missing. He also asserts that three documents which were sent to the Quai d’Orsay just before tile war began, and several telegrams \yhich he. believes were unimportant, are likewise missing from the archives.
