Mrs L. D. McGlashan returned yesterday, from Christchurch. * Mr J. MacLeod returned yesterday, from a visit to Taranaki. Mr. and Mrs H. D. Thompson left to-day, on return to Auckland. Mr. P. O’Donnell left to-day for Wellington. Mrs. A. Sloss and Mr. A. Sloss left this morning, for Christchurch. Miss Joan McConville left to-day, on return to Christchurch. Miss D. Carter left this morning, on return to Wellington. Mr. G. Rogers left to-day, on return to Christchurch. Mr R. A. McSorily returned yesterday, from a holiday visit to Queenstown. Mr R. T. Smith, District Public Works Engineer, returned yesterday, from Christchurch. Mr. A. H. Sumner, Postman, Greymouth, will leave to-morrow evening, on transfer to Takaka. The Foreign Secretary (Mr. Eden) has arrived in London from the South of France, where he spent a fortnight’s holiday.—Official Wireless.

Mr. R. B. McNish, of the Greymouth Branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, has received notice of transfer to Christchurch, and will leave next week. He will be replaced by Mr. E. D. Dunn, of the Christchurch branch.

Mrs. D. A. Wraight, who has been visiting relatives at Kumara Junction, left this morning, for Dunedin. Mr. and Mrs Wraight will leave early next month for England, where they will remain for some months.

A Sydney cablegram announced the death of Mr. Benjamin Edwin Minns, eminent painter and illustrator, aged 73 years. His first drawing appeared in the Sydney “Bulletin” 50 years ago. He was regarded as a, fine water-col-our painter.

Mr. T. Mark (Public Service Commissioner) and Mr. F. Miller (General Secretary of the Public Service Association) will arrive, this afternoon, from Christchurch and will interview West Coast members of the Association regarding re-grading matters.

Miss Elsie Finch, of the staff of the Public Trust Office, Greymouth, has resigned her position, in view of her approaching marriage, the resignation to take effect on March 6. Miss E. E. Eaton, of the Grey Hospital Board’s staff, has been appointed to fill the vacancy. \
