HURLED FROM SLEIGH
AMATEUR JOCKEY KILLED ST. MORITZ, December 31. While the American actress, Peggy Joyce, and the well-known amateur jockey, Charles Jackson, of London University, were returning to their hotel in a horse-sleigh along Cresta Run, the horses bolted, and they were thrown out violently.
Jackson’s head struck a milestone, and he was killed instantly. Miss Joyce is believed to have had a leg fractured, and she was taken to hospital.
Miss Joyce is unaware of the death of Jackson, whom she had hoped to marry.
