-[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, December 19. At a special meeting of the Hokitika Borough Council on Thursday evening, when Professor Campbell (engineer) was present, the question of tenders for the supply of pipes and material for re-reticulation of the town was considered. The tender of John Burns and Co. was accepted for the supply of 39,200 feet of 4in and 9,100 feet of 6in asbestos cement water pipes delivered at Hokitika, for £5,649, and the tender of Stewart and Lloyd for the supply of 13,800 feet of weldless steel spun lined and sheathed Sin water mains was accepted at £5,117, plus sales tax. The engineer was instructed to call for tenders for the pumping plant. As a precaution against sickness the juvenile library has been closed till further notice. Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Healthy will lay the foundation stone of the Butler Home at the Westland Hospital, on Tuesday afternoon next. The Minister will be entertained at the Soldiers’ Hall in the evening.
