CANADA AND RUSSIA

MONTREAL, September 11

The Prime Minister, Mr. W. n. Mackenzie Ring, to-day announced the restoration of friendly trade relations between Canada and Soviet Russia. The embargo effected by' the Bennett Government in 1931 against Russian coal, wood pulp, lumber, and other products has been lifted, while it is understood that Moscow has lifted the counter-embargo against Canadian products.

The Minister for Trade and Commerce. Mr. W. D. Euler, who recently visited Russia, will soon outline a trade agreement with the Soviet.

ARCTIC EXPLORERS

RUGBY, September 11

Members of the Oxford University' expedition have returned to London after 14 months in the Arctic. They carried out their entire programme in the interior and norih-east with complete success.
