DR. J. McBREARTY.

[to the editor.]

Sir, —Like a few others I have been wondering what has become of the effort to obtain a memorial to the late Dr. J. Mcßrearty? He was so interested in and assisted sport of all kind, that I think it is a great pity that these bodies have not taken the matter up. Subs, even limited to 1/should easily bring in sufficient to obtain some suitable remembrance. I feel it is a disgrace to Greymouth that such a weak effort was made in Dr. Jim's case —a man who was nothing more nor less than a charitable institution to the town, and sacrificed his life in the cause of humanity. I trust that my feeble effort will awaken interest in the matter and have the desired effect.—'Yours, etc., HOPEFUL. August 11. 1936.
