[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

REEFTON. July 27.

Misses E. and M. O'Brien left on Saturday, for Christchurch, where they will reside. Mr. C. P. Mori, who has been attending Synod at Nelson has returned. Messrs McKane and Irving as representatives of the Lewis Pass Workers’ Association waited on the Hospital Board at its last monthly meeting, relative to the formation of a medical association at the Lewis Pass for workers on the West Coast side. Mr. McKane explained that 68 men were employed at the camps; of these men only four had been inmates of the Hospital. A number of married men were resident in Reefton. The chairman asked re the duration of employment and was informed by Mr. McKane that the men could remain for some two years if they wished. Mr. Archer suggested that a copy of the agreement as submitted to the Inangahua Valley Association, be suppleid to the deputation and this could be submitted to the workers at the camps and they could then hold a conference re the matter. This was agreed to by the meeting.
