MARKETING CONTROL

MELBOURNE, July 22

The Federal Ministers now believe that the three main industries affected by the Privy Council’s marketing decision, namely dried fruits, butter, and wheat, are temporarily in a safe position. Butter is safe because of the steps taken by the industry itself. Wheat is safe on account of the present high price of wheat. Dried fruits, at present, are not affected by the decision, because the sale of the current season’s crops has already been solved. The Ministry intends to convene a conference of the State Premiers, probably in August, to discuss further measures, when it is expected that the Federal Attorney-General, Mr. Menzies, will be back from England.
