The annual meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Bowling Association opened to-day. F. J, Good (Christchurch), who presided, said there was an increase of 659 members.
The delegates praised the past executive for their administrative work.
Hon. W. Perry, the new President, assumed office, being duly congratulated. It was decided that the tournament committee consist of the executive, with such other members as they may appoint. The date of the next tournament which will be held at Wellington, was fixed for January 4. The order of play will be the same as last year. The system also will be the same, with the exception that the unbeaten sectional winners in the singles will go forward as two lifers. Other sectional winners and ties to go forward as one lifers, as also all four wins in any section. On Mr. Good’s suggestion, it was decided that three prizes of five, three and two guineas respectively, be allocated. ...
The Christchurch proposal that the playing of unstamped or incorrectly stamped bowls be penalised by disqualification in the game played and all previous games, was lost on the voices.
