CLERKS “OCCUPY” BANKS

The stay-in strike took an unexpected turn at Toulon, where bank employees struck for higher wages, and occupied all the city’s banks. They chose a most inconvenient moment, because the yearly balancing is due tonight. An agreement was reached in the dispute at the Nice hotels, which are reopening to-morrow.
ALGERIAN RIOTS.
(Recd. July 1. 8 a.m.). ORAN, June 30.
Political unrest, following the strikes, led to a number of clashes in Algeria. One was killed during an Oran street battle. A military guard was placed at the entrance to the Jewish quarter. The Commissar of Police was injured at Constantine. Strikers attacked a train at Ouenza.
