INQUEST OPENED

COAST ROAD FATALITY. Inquest proceedings commenced at Greymouth, to-day, before Coroner H. Morgan, S.M., concerning the ath ° l Mrs Martha Allitt, who was killed as the result-of a motor accident last Saturday -evening, while on route from Greymouth to Westport. • Eustace Walter Allitt. employed at the railway workshops, Lower Hutt, stated that deceased was his wife,.and resided with him at 472 High Street, Lower Hutt. She was 51 years of ago last February. On Friday last, she left Wellington, intending to visit her daughter ■at Westport. Witness accompanied her to the ship, and that was the last time he saw her alive. It was her intention to travel to Greymouth, and thence by 'bus to Westport. She intended to be away tor a month, j She always enjoyed good health. Witness was informed by the Lower Hutt police, on Saturday evening, that his wife had been killed in a motor accident. Sergeant J. Isbister stated that he did nptj propose to call any further evidence at present, and he applied for an adjournment, sine die. The Coroner granted the adjournment, and expressed sincere sympathy with Mr Allitt in the loss he had sustained' by the death of his wife. The funeral of the late Mrs Allitt took place at the Orawaiti Cemetery, Westport,' this afternoon.
