DUNEDIN, June 20

The Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones, replying to the toast of “The Empire and Defence.” at a reunion of the volunteers yesterday, said the Government’s defence policy had not yet been formulated. They were studying the policies of previous Governments and they were agreed on the point that New Zealand must, support the British Government in its efforts for world peace. He said that, ho considered it the duty of the country to provide for the training of air pilots, and the Government were considering a scheme for co-operation with the Old Country in this respect. Though the Government wanted world peace, they realised that it would be necessary, till some of the nations regained their sanity, to maintain an adequate defence force. i
