Mr. L. M. Gardiner left by to-day’s express on return to Christchurch.

Mrs. J. R. Thompson left to-day. on return to Gore.

Mr. D. Walton left to-day, on reurn to Christchurch.

Miss .C. Storey will arrive, this afernoon, from Wellington, on a visit o relations.

Mr. R. S. Cochrane, Train Running Officer, Railways Department, Greymom h. will leave to-morrow, on transfer to Frankton Junction. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Cochrane.

A London cablegram announced that the singer, Richard Tauber, was married to Miss Napier, at a registry office.

Mr E. A. Cooney, to-day, was appointed Assistant Forester to the Selwyn Plantations Board, out of 99 applicants. He is a Bachelor of Forestry Science, and at present, is employed in the forestry section of the Railways Department, in the Bay of Plenty.—Press Assn.

News has reached Sydney of the death of Mr W. J. Douglas, general manager of Fullers’ Theatres, while he was on a tour. Mr Douglas formerly represented Fuller’s at Wellington. New Zealand. He became ill in Berlin, and was conveyed to England in an ambulance aeroplane, piloted by Hans Bertram, one of the two German aviators who, when lost in Northern Australia some time ago, were rescued under sensational circumstances.
