MEETING

COBDEN HOME & SCHOOL ASSN. The monthly general meeting of the Cobden Home and School Association was held in the Gymnasium on Saturday evening, Mr A. L. Edward, vicepresident, presiding over an attendance of about 70 members. Apologies for absence were received from Mr Cressey, president, and Mr Aiderton, secretary.

The chairman presented a brass vase to Mr E. Dewar, the winner of the association's monogram competition.

The meeting was entertained by Mr A. Campbell, with a series of films of the Panama Canal, London, New Zealand resorts, etc.; and this programme wfi£ loudly applauded. The chairman, seconded by Mr Hayes, moved a vote of thanks to Mr Campbell. He drew attention to the service rendered to Cobden parents in proving the educational value of cinemas in the schools. Miss Murtha and Mr McNabb (Kumara), t who supplied the music throughout the screening, wore also included in the motion of thanks, which was carried by acclamation.

Supper was then served! after which dancing, and songs by Miss Maud Williams, accompanied by Miss .Murtha, occupied the remainder of the evening. Music for the dancing was supplied by Miss Murtha (piano) and Mr McNabb (violin), and by Mr J. Contessa (piano). Mr Eric Brailsford was M.C.
