ASHBURTON, June 20. _ Resenting' a decision against him, Joe Kopach Woods struck, amid, boos, at the referee, Gordon Mowat, when tlie wrestling bout last evening, was awarded to Chris Zaharias. Woods expostulated with the referee, and displayed an inclination to continue the contest. Zghariias won on points, with a good exhibition, gaining a body press in the fifth round, while Woods got a submission with a surfboard in the seventh.

In a solid exhibition of wrestling in which mat work was not sacrificed to the excessive indulgence of showmanship, Earl Mcßeady defeated “Cowhoy” Russell by a fall, the only ond secured, in the sixth rotund' of a professional bout at Hamilton last evening. . *• Throughout both men gave a good display, and while McCready held a decided advantage in weight and strength his opponent gave a plucky exhibition and proved an excellent foil lor the Canadian. After McCready had Russell in a groggy condition from a brace of elbow jolts he picked him up to slam him heavily to the canvas three times in succession.

G.B.A. TOURNAMENT. The Grey Boxing Association will conduct an amateur wrestling arid boxing tournament in the Town Hall, Greymoutli, on Tuesday night, when the best ,of the- amateurs in training in the district will compete. There will be six wrestling coritests, and with such popular exponents as McLean (Kurriara), Smith, Featherstori Neilson, Geddes and Burn, then should be a abundance of cl’evei straight wrestling, with the necessary touch of showmanship. A specia feature will be a match between J Cox (boxer) and P. Peters (wrestler) The referees will be: H. Blanchfieh (wrestling) and F. O’Neill (boxing). Wrestling bouts arranged are:—L Zampesi v. G. Carson (Blackball) G. Burn (Cobden) v. F. Manttai (Cobden)’; G. Geddes v. T. Tones; A McLean (Kumara) v. R. Smitl (Blackball); C. Jorinson (Kumara) v A. Featherston (Kumara); J. Quil linari (Taihape) v, R. Neilson (Black ball). The boxing bouts will be:—J. Dil lon (Blackball) v. V. Davies (Blacl ball); J. McGrath (Kumara) v. I Zampesi.
