MEETINGS TO COME.

Cerne Abbas: In the spring of. this season Cerne Abbas was regarded as better than her-stablemate Custos. Cerne Abbas, who is how shaping well in her work, may be seen out at the Wellington meeting.

On the Minimum: The latest track efforts of Te Hai have been encouraging and the bay gelding should be worth following during the rest of the season. He figures on the minimum in both his engagements at the Opotiki meeting, and if started in the Cup in preferlence to the sprint event he is likely to beat more than will beat him.

Bred the Right Way: Since winning a maiden event at the Waipa meeting last month Cyllaros has been saddled up on five occasions and has failed to gain a place each time. He is a well-bred periling by Iliad from Philomela, and, judged on appearances, he should iuin out above the average. Cyllaros has two engagements at the Opotiki meeting and it will be easier to sum up his future prospects after he has competed at that fixture.

Showed Promise: Ruaville, who is engaged in the Novice Stakes at the Opotiki meeting on Tuesday, was a starter in the Trial Handicap at the last Waipa meeting at Te Awamutu, and he ran a good race to get fourth to Cyllaros, Little Ruse anil Johnny Walls. His next effort was in a maiden event, at the Waikato winter meeting, and he made a good showing throughout, being fifth at the finish. A little improvement on that form would see him in the firing line at the finish. Ruaville is a three-year-old gelding by Ruapapa from Queenstown, by Archiestown from Thurnline, by Thurnham. Queenstown is' a half-sister to Luminary.

_ Has Raced Consistently: , “ Queen Nona has been paid up for in a couple of Taces at the Opotiki meeting, to be held at Tauranga on Tuesday, and she is not without prospects. She was started on three occasions at the recent Great Northern meeting, and after being second in the first' division of the Jervois Handicap, she' ran fourth in the Carbine Plate and 'occupied a similar position in the second division of the Fitzioy Handicap, in which she carried topweight (9.12). The two latter races were over a mile, and with 7.3 she would only need to stay on to prove one of the hardest of the lightweights, to beat in the Cup. Queen Nona is an honest mare and nas raced most consistently.

PUKEKO CASE.

appeals UPHELD. WELLINGTON, June 19. Appeals by B. Burgess, ownertrainer of the horse Pukeko, and A. Jenkins, jockey, in connection, with the running of the horse Pukeko m the first division of the Jervois Handicap at Auckland, were upheld to-day by the Racing Conference judges. Following is their judgments: The judges have very carefully considered trie evidence taken before the judicial committee of the Auckland Racing Club, and before the Auckland District Committee, and' also evidence tendered before them on appeal. The judges consider that, after giving due weight to the expert opinion of Mr. Gomer, stipendiary steward, and the stewards of the Auckland Racing Club there is sufficient evidence from the surounding circumstances to justify the conclusion that, while the jockOy Jenkins may have erred in his judgment in riding the race, the horse cannot be said not to have been ridden on its merits in the circumstances of the race. We therefore uphold the appeals of Burgess and' Jenkins, and order the deposits on appeal to be refunded.

The judges were Messrs J. S. McLeod, D. E. Wanklyn, and James McLeod.
