[OUR own CORRESPONDENT.] At the monthly meeting of the Kum.ira Women’s Institute, Mrs Peever presided over a good attendance. An apology was received for the absence of Mrs Fox. > It was decided to hold the birthday on July 3. Opportunity was taken during the afternoon to

make a small presentation to Mrs Cooper, who has left on holiday. Mrs Cooper suitably replied. Vocal solos by Mrs Marks (Nelson) and Mrs Peever were well received. In the competition, “Something New from Something Old,” Mrs Peever was first, Mrs McGettigan second, and Mrs Cooper third. For the best bloom competition, Miss Hamer was first, Mi-s M. Rochl'ord second, and. Mrs Pierson third. An interesting demonstration on pastry-making was given by Mrs McNabb. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames West and Wise and Miss Hamer.
