AWARD TO VET. SURGEON. LONDON, May 5. Judgment for £15,668 and costs, was entered at Manchester Assizes) yesterday by Mr. Justice Humphreys in the action in which James Kay Bateman, 38, of The Hook, Northaw, Fetter’s Bar, Middlesex, claimed damnees for personal injuries from Flank I-iopkim veterinary surgeon, of Man- i chestcr-road, Knutsford. _ ■ 1 Mr. Gorman, for the plaintiff, said ■ 'the liability was admitted and special, ’damages had been agreed at £668. j I The claim arose out of an accident on [ ; Dtccinber f) near Rostherne, Jxnuts■ford, when Mr. Bateman was in a car driven by Mr. Hopkin, which collided with a trailer. The injuries were such that there was now a hole in Mr. Bateman s! [head three inches by two inches, over which he wore an aluminium plate. I At’the time of the accident he was j veterinary surgeon to the Greyhound j Racing Association. He had to look j after 700 dogs at the White City and ! i Harring-ay tracks. His salary was; j £l,OOO a year, and he was provided . i with a house and a car.
