GERMANY & COLONIES

NATIONAL CAMPAIGN

[BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.)

BERLIN, June 14.

Foreshadowing a vigorous campaign for the return of the colonies, a new German Colonial League, which is a Department of the Nazi Organisation, is absorbing the existing German Colonial Society, and is launching a membership drive throughout Germany. The plans include exhibitions, lectures and propaganda in all of the German schools, and also the holding of “Colonial camps,” in which the objective will be to impress the people that colonies are indispensable to a great modern nation. The Colonial Society, which has worked for the encouragement of colonial-mindedness in Germany since the days of Bismark, was a private body. Its absorption indicated how seriously the colonial propaganda is now taken by the authorities.
