LION TAMER KILLED

REHEARSAL TRAGEDY

PARIS, May 2

A tamer was killed this evening by a lion in a small travelling circus at a street fair in the east of Paris. The incident took place at a rehearsal at which only the circus staff were present.

Charles Hulin, 26, the tamer, was performing with the animal in its cage when it suddenly sprang at him and mauled him terribly.

The other members of the circus

called for the police and an officer fired a shot and killed the lion. Hulin died a few minutes after he had been admitted tc> hospital.
