[BY CABLE—PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.]
NEW YORK, May 27,
Leroy Haines, a Negro heavyweight boxer, defeated Camera to-night on a technical knockout tetter the ninth round had' proceeded for forty seconds. The Italian, who scaled 2651b5, was no match for the American, who scaled 2001bs. From the opening of the first round, when he had his opponent wobbling on the ropes, until the end of the match, Haines punished Camera prettly severely. Not that Camera did not fight back. He had a distinct advantage in the second and third rounds, when he hammered the Negro about the head. From then on however, the former chaippion weakened' badly, and, pawing his way aimlesly about the ring, absorbed a large amount of punishment. He was barely able to make his corner, unassisted, after the eighth round. In the ninth round, during a melee, Camera apparently injured his left leg. He began to reel, and the referee stopped the bout.
