GREYMOUTH SITTING. The quarterly sitting of the Supreme Court at Greymouth, before Mr. Justice Northcroft, is scheduled for June 4. The following business is on the list: — CRIMINAL. For trial: James Forbes, alias John James Mac Lean, alleged unlawful entry of dwellinghouse, by night. CIVIL. Griffen and Smith, Ltd. v. George Kirkpatrick, claim for injunction restraining defendant-from carrying on business at Greymouth, Reefton, or Hokitika, under the name or style of “K’s Cash Stores,” or under any other name or style; and from holding himself out as purchaser, partner, or proprietor of the said businesses; also an order that the defendant transfer the businesses to the plaintiff; a declaration that the defendant is trustee for the plaintiff of the businesses; and an order for the taking of accounts between the plaintiff and defendant,, and that the defendant pay to the plaintiff the balances to the credit of the accounts of the said businesses.
Corry Robert Coulson, of Paroa, v William Smith, of Matainui, claim for £llll/5/- damages for injuries received and wages lost through a motor collision. Christopher Clement Briscoe v. The King, claim for £2OOO damages for loss of left leg, as the result of an accident while employed by the Public Works Department. IN DIVORCE. Frederick Llewellyn Cassidy v. Freida Veronica Cassidy, petition for , divorce, on ground of desertion. DISHONEST EMPLOYEE. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 27. Hector Albert Stewart of Hawera, who pleaded guilty in the Lower Court on Monday to two charges of theft as a servant of the Egmont Box Company, involving £576, was sentenced by Mr. Justice Smith to reformative detention not exceeding three years. Counsel stated that the prisoner associated with men with rneai’.fj beyond his own, and in trying to keep up a standard he was tempted to take his employer’s funds. HAMILTON SESSIONS. HAMILTON, May 27. Twelve criminal charges, involving eight persons, were presented for consideration of the Grand Jury at the opening of the Supreme Court session before Mr. Justice Fair. His Honor said that two cases of negligent driving causing death were the most serious on the calendar. True bills were ' returned in all cases. c
