CLOSED CATHEDRAL
GOVERNOR’S DAUGHTER WEDS. MELBOURNE- April 16. Ecclesiastical authorities to-day denied that there had been a breach of any law of the State or Church in the closing of the doors of St. Paul’s Cathedral for a period yes.terday morning for the wedding of the Hon. Sara Vanneck, older daughter of his Excellency the Governor (Lord Huntingfield), and Mr. David PeM, in order that the wedding might be kept as quiet as possible because of tire Court mourning for his late Majesty. All the. doors of the Cathedral were locked with the exception of one door, to which card-holders were directed. At this door one of the vergers were stationed during the morning. He admitted all entitled to enter the Cathedra!. / The ordinary services of the Cathedral were not disturbed yesterday. It is considered that any Church body in Australia can restrict admittance to a church building when necessary, and since there is no established Church the citizens have no Slate right to enter a church.
