CHRYSANTHEMUMS

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY’S SHOW

, The annual chrysanthemum show of the West Coast Horticultural Society is being held to-day in Herb. Moore’s Cabaret. Despite the recent unfavourable weather, the entries, with the possible exception of the cut flowers section, are well up to the standaid of previous years, the chrysanthemum and decorative sections being excellent. Considering the lateness of the season, the dahlias are also fairly good. A special attraction are the flower pictures, which form a unique and ’ outstanding exhibit. The champion chrysanthemum, a “Bessie Cook.” was shown by Mr F. Martini (Hokitika), who also won the Mrs A. R. Wallis silver challenge cup for the most points in the Japanese and Chinese classes. A new feature is the sales stall, where patrons may purchase an excellent variety of cut flowers, bulbs and vegetables. The show will be open this evening. The judges, Mr J.
