Mr. P. O’Farrell, President of the Grey mouth Branch of the Labour Party, will return to-day from Wellington, where he attended the Labour Conference.

The death occurred at the Westland Hospital yesterday of David Howard Davies, at the age of 47 years. Deceased who was a native of Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, is survived by a widow. Deceased’was an Imperial soldier.

The death occurred at the Westland Hospital of Alfred Brookes, after a lengthy illness. He was 74 years of age and a native of Cheshire, England Deceased, who was a bach . elo £.^f s £° a several years mining in the Riihii-dis-trict.

The wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, this morning, of Guido Tomasi, of Runanga, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Tomasi, Conco, Italy, and Hazel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Tailentire, of Runanga. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn officiated. Miss Maud Tailentire, sister of tne bride, was bridesmaid, and Mr. V. Tomasi, cousin of the bridegroom was best man. Mr. and Mrs. G. Tomasi left later by the express.

Mrs. H. C. Garde, who leaves on „ Mondav for Rangiora, where she will reside, was the guest oL honour at a bridge party yesterday afternoon, at the residence of Mrs. P. W. Hambleton, Alexander Street, where a number of her friends met to bid her farewell. The hostess made a presentation of a gold bridge pencil to Mrs. Garde, and extended the best wishes of those present, for the guest s health and happiness. The bridge prize for a hidden score was won by Mrs. Garde.

Officers of the various banks at Grevmouth entertained Mr. H. t C. Garde at dinner, last evening, prior to his departure for Rangiora, on Monday. There was a representative gathering and, on behalf of the bank officers, Mr. A. E. Prince (manager of the National Bank) presented Mr. Garde with a pipe. The complimentary remarks of Mr. Prince were endorsed by Mr. A. Baker (manager of the Bank of New Zealand), and Mr. Garde made an appropriate response. Opportunity was taken to welcome Mr.’ R. J. Webber, who has arrived from Waimate, to succeed Mr. Garde as manager of the Union Bank.
