LABOUR PAPER
CH.CH. SCHEME ABANDONED,
[PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 17. Mr E. C. Huie and those associated with him in the proposal to establish a new morning Labour newspaper in Christchurch, have decided to abandon the project. The following statement has been issued to the Press by Mr Huie: “'The provisional directors of the proposed “Times” Newspaper Company, Ltd., have decided that, owing to insufficient financial support, they would not be justified in proceeding with the incorporation of the company. The deposits of applicants for shares are being returned, and the prospectus is withdrawn.”
