VICTOR McLAGLEN FIRST HOLLYWOOD, March 6. Mr. Victor McLaglen, British film stafl*, and Miss Bette Davis have been awarded the annual gold statuettes of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the best screen performances of 1935. The judges selected “Mutiny on the Bounty” as the best film of the year. Miss Katherine Hepburn and Miss Elizabeth Bergner are placed as second and third actresses. Mr. Paul Muni and Mr. Charles Laughton are adjudged the second and third actors. Mr. John Ford was chosen as the best director of the year, for his work in “The Informer.” Following him come Mr. Michael Curtiz for “Captain Blood” and Mr. Henry Hathaway for “Lives of a Bengal Lancer.”—Reuter..
