WEDDINGS
RYDER—McNABB. The wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church, Manchester Street, Christchurch, lon Wednesday afterno'oh, oX Maisie Kathleen, only daughter <5l Mt and Mrs F. J. McNabb, St. Albans, to Th 0 ”' 1 ' 1 " - Patrick, eldfistsbh of Mr and Mrs P. Ryder, inchbonnie. Rev. Father Hendren officiated, and Miss D. Blake was the organist. Th’6 bride’s frock was of water-lily cream souple satin, the yoke and sleeves being of witchcraft lace in leaf design. Shirring gave a finishing touch to the neckline. The bishop sleeves were gathered into bands ot shirred satin, and the skirt formed a long train. Orange blossom trimmed the coronet which held in place her oval veil, and her shower bbuquet was composed of begonias, gladioli, and hothouse flowers. Miss Valerie Ryder, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Dorothy McNabb, the bride’s counsin, attended as bridesmaids, wearing frocks of lemon and green tree-bark crepe respectively. The bodices were relieved at the V<llecklines and the fullness of the puff sleeves was caught into fitting cuffs. Their girdles Were of silver to match their shoes, and their hats toned with their frocks. Abutildns ahd apricot flowers formed their bouquets. . Little Colleen Kernick and Brian Kernich were train-bearers. The little girl wore a frock of pink shot satin trimmed with frilling, and her head-dress was of pink flowers. Her twin brother wore a white satin Eton suit with jabot and cuffs of silver Mr W. Ryder attended his brother as best man, and Mr C. Schmack, the bride’s cousin, was groomsman. The guests were entertained at Frascati. When Mr and Mrs T. P. Ryder left for their wedding tour, the bride was wearing a light blue crepe-de-chine frock patterned in orange tonings, a navy blue coat with fur-trimmed lapels, and a velour hat.
GILLARD—LEVINGS. The wedding took place at the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Barbadoes Street, Christchurch, of Keith Warren, second son of Mr and Mrs F. Gillard. Sydenham, and Mai re Eva, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Levings, Linwood. Rev. Father J. Maguire officiated, and Miss K. O’Connor was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a classical frock of magnolia satin cut on classical lines. The bodice was deeply shirred to a high neckline, and the wide Dolman sleeves tapered to a point. The fitting skirt had a long graceful inset train, finished with a wide band of shirring. Her veil was held in place by a coronet of pearls. She carried a trailing sheaf of abutilons and freesias. The bride was attended by three maids, Miss Margaret Peckham, Miss Christina Gillard, and Miss Myra Jack. They were dressed alike in frocks of green, pink and blue lace, with pointed trains, the neckline being finished with pointed taffetas collars. They wore taffetas hats to match. The two small maids, Eva Tweedie (niece of the bride) and Rayma Burrell (niece of the bridegroom) wore ankle-length frocks of pink and green suede crepe-de-chine. smocking forming the yoke, and the skirts were finished with two wide frills. Mr Charles Lansdown was best man, and Mr Arthur Burrell and' Harry Gillard were groomsmen. The reception was held at the Winter Garden, where the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a black ensemble. Her shoulder spray was of pink carnations and cream roses. The • bridegroom’s mother wore an ensemble of dove grey wool georgette, relieved with silver, her shoulder spray being of autumn colourings. When Mr and Mrs Gillard left later the bride was wearing a tailored suit of Burgundy and a beige smocked’ blouse, with hat and shoes to match.
