The boy Livermore’s mother (whose arrest was cabled on November 29) was exonerated to-day, on the charge of shooting him. The boy, who has recovered, after hovering for several months between life and death, assumed the blame for the shooting. The boy had remonstrated with his mother about her conduct with a drinking party, and had said she could shoot him. U.S.S. CO.’s NEW SHIP RUGBY, March 25. The most modern methods of refrigerating insulation and ventilation specially designed for the carriage of fruit, are being installed in the steamer Matua, which is 351 feet long with a Sulzer direct Diesel drive to twin screws. She is primarily intended for cargo traffic on the New Zealand service, but will also have accommodation for 45 saloon passengers. Her speed will be 16i knots. MAUNDY MONEY. RUGBY, March 25. The King will perform the ancient ceremony of distributing gifts .to as many deserving old people as the years of his age, when he attends the Maundy Thursday service at Westminster Abbey on April 9. When King George attended the service in person two years ago, it was the first time for 200 years, a reigning Monarch had done so. PACIFIC SHIPPING LONDON, March 26. The Australian Ministers, Messrs. Menzies, Page and Bruce met Mr Runciman, Mr Malcolm MacDonald, Lord Swinton, and Lord Hartington at the Commons, the chief object being to lay down a programme for negotiations, but some progress was made in the Pacific shipping question, Mr. Mr. Page and Mr. Menzies pleading its urgency. It is understood that New Zealand may desire special representation in which case the full conference could not begin tor six weeks. It would be possible, however, to begin earlier with Sir J.
