TRIP TO TARANAKI
SYDNEY EXCURSION SCiHEME. [per press association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, March 26. Plans for a special excursion steamer from Sydney to New Plymouth early next year, are being advanced at New Plymouth with the co-opera-tion of Sydney. The ship will carry passengers and cargo, and possibly special mails. The passengers will disembark at New Plymouth and will be distributed over the North Island by rail. The ship will unload cargo at New. Zealand ports, and will return to New Plymouth to pick up passengers for the return trip. JAPANESE INQUIRIES. NEW PLYMOUTH, March 26. To inquire into the possibilities of shipping Taranaki ironsahd to Japan, Mr K. Yoneda, manager of the Yamashita Steamship Company, has arrived* at New Plymouth. Mr Yoneda said that there was a growing demand for ironore in Japan. He also foresaw the possibility of building- up a trade in other products, including tinned cream, preferably by - direct shipment.
