WHANGAREI DROME. [per press association.] - WHANGAREI, February 11. Hopes that Whangarei would soon possess a landing ground on Pohe Island have been frustrated by the refusal of a small farm holder to give up a portion of his holding without compensation. A conference of local bodies is to investigate the possibilities of other sites in the vicinity of the town. Whangarei is lagging behind the Northland centres which now have grounds.
MAIL FOR N.Z. WELLINGTON, February 11. The Matakana left Sydney at 6.30 a.m. to-day for Oamaru. She carries the London air mail of January 26 for the South Island only. WELLINGTON, February 12. The inaugural flight of the new British air service between England and Sweden was made during the weekend. The British Continental Airways will run two services weekly in each direction, between London and Malmo, beginning to-morrow.
