FIRE OUTBREAKS
HOUSE' DESTROYED.

MASTERTON, November 17.
A fire on Saturday night completely destroyed a six-roomed house owned and occupied by B. Burgess in Opaki Road. The whole of the contents including many valuable racing cups and trophies won by Burgess, were lost. As the house was just outside the borough boundary, no water was available.
DUNEDIN FLATS.
DUNEDIN, November 15.
A spectacular'fire in a two-storeyed wooden building at 26, Heriot Row this morning, practically destroyed premises owned by Mrs N. Sutton, and used as flats, fill of which were occupied at the time o,f the outbreak. An elderly man, William'Bolton, narrowly escaped, being trapped in an upstairs room. He was asleep, and was wakened by dense smoke. Finding exit by way of the stairs blocked by a wall of flames, he was able to climb through a window on to a balcony, and was rescued a few minutes later by the brigade.
