RUNANGA NOTES

[OTJB OWN COBBESPONDENT.J A social evening was held in St. Thomas’s Hall on Friday evening, by the members and friends of the Runanga Choral Society. An enjoyable evening was spent with dancing and competitions, and various other items, and the lady members provided supper. The opportunity was taken by the Choir members to show their appreciation of the services of Mr. R. Jackson as conductor, and Mr. Kitchener as .secretary. The president, Mi. L. Cook, speaking in eulogistic terms of their services, Mr. R. Jackson was presented with a silver Eversharp pencil, and Mr. Kitchener with a tobacco pouch. Both gentlemen suitably replied The following .is a list of the artists and items:—“.Carry me Back to Old Virginny,” by the Choir. Mrs. Galbraith, song, .“Macushla.” Tap by MiBs Thelma Smith and Miss A. Gallon. Mr. M. Johnson, “The Village Concert.” Mr. J. Kirkby, song, “Pretty Jane.” Mr. L. Cook, recitation, “Misunderstood”., Mrs. Deardon song, “Killarney.” Mr. W. Wright, song, “Home on the Range,” encore, “K-k-Kiss me Again.” Mrs. Taylor, .song, “When Song is Sweet.” Mr. M. Johnson gave an Irish jig. The winners of the Monte Carlo and Lucky Spot dances were: Mr. L. Cook and partner, Miss Brown and Miss K. Ileslin, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Smith, Miss A. Hewison, Miss C. Warwick. The hidden apimal competition was won by Mr. R. McTaggart. .
