LATE MESSAGES
RUGBY, November 8. At a conference of staff officers of the Royal Air Force, at Singapore, tonight, it was decided to institute an air search for Kingsford Smith, at dawn to-morrow. Three flying boats, which have a. range of 3000 miles, will be used, and a. squadron of bombers, at present at Taiping, will be ordered to comb tire Malay Coast and the adjacent water. The aircraftcarrier Hermes, will also play a prominent part in the rescue attempts. Although Kingsford Smith’s powerful Lockhead Altair monoplane is fitted with wireless, no distress signals were heard by the radio stations, during the night. RUGBY. November 8. An official Board ot Trade announcement stated that, in pursuance of Articles one and two of the Treaty of Peace, and the. Covenant of the League of Nations order of 1935, the Board has appointed November 18 next as the date for the entry into operation of the prohibition of the export to Italian territory of certain descriptions of
goods, and the prohibition of imports from Italian territory, as provided for in the order which was published in the London Gazette on October 26.
