[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] BOY’S DEATH. 7 MASTERTON, November 8. The extremely dangerous practice of cyclists in towing behind motor vehicles was commented on by Coroner E. G. Eton at an inquest today concerning the death of Basil Raymond Lang, aged 14, who died , in the MasLerton Hospital on Thursday night, from injuries received when he was struck by a motor lorry near Clareville that afternoon. The victim veered out from behind a petrol waggon on which he had been hanging, and crashed heai|-on into a laden transport lorry coming in the other direction. A verdict of accidental death was returned. • , BLOW LAMP EXPLOSION. WELLINGTON, November 8. The accidental explosion of a can of methylated spirits used in priming a blow lamp was responsible for the death of William Henry Bryant, an employee in the Wellington City Corporation’s electricity department, according to a verdict given by Coroner E. Gilbertson at the inquest held today. Alexander Fraser, acting foreman in the winding branch of the electricity department, said he instructed Bryant to light a . blow lamp. A Jew minutes later he heard an explosion, and saw the boy lying on the floor enveloped in flames. James Richard Houston, another employee, said he saw the explosion, but could not be sure if the lamp had been previously lit or not. He had heard Fraser warn the boy about the use of methylated spirits.
