The wash-up for the Deep Lead claim at Nelson Creek was lOOoz. ISdwt. for 63 shifts. ANTONIO’S HYDRAULIC CO. Antonio’s Hydraulic Elevating Co., Ltd., report that six huts and three tents have been erected to accommodate the men. Also a tool shed and a large building for housing pipes, etc. All material for the construction of pipes and all timber for the tables, elevator, flumes, etc., has been purchased and is now on the claim. Pipes are being made under contract by D. Hartill, who employs six men. To date he has made 2000 feet, and the work of placing these in position is in hand. From the progress already made we are assured that all the pipes required Will be finished in time. The elevator will be erected in the paddock of the old Antonio’s dredge, thereby eliminating a considerable ambuht of excavation. To do this it was necessary to divert the creek and this work is practice l lv completed. The foundation for the elevator pipes, from the supply' race has been prepared and the timber supports for the pipe's are being placed in position. The hefid race was an old race Which needed considerable repairing. The earthwork and tunnel work necessary has been finished and the flumes and' pipes are now being erected. The directors have had the offer of a splendid water supply from Slab Hut Creek. This is now being surveyed, and if found satisfactory may prove a better proposition than erecting dams. There are at present on the claim a mine manager and fourteen men besides those constructing the pipes. The directors have kept in close touch with operations since work commenced, and are pleased to be able to report that everything is proceeding satisfactorily, that the work is well ahead of schedule and that the cost to date is under the amounts estimated.
