The negro, Joe Louis, advanced his claim to-night as the chief contender for the heavyweight boxing championship when he defeated King Levinsky by a technical know-out two minutes twenty-one seconds after the commencement of the first round. After a few seconds of wild milling, Louis, using short right blows to the jaw. knocked down his opponent three times for successive counts of three, four and four. The referee then stopped tho bout. Levinsky weighed List lijlbs and Louis scaled 14st 2Jlbs. There were 40,000 spectators. MATCHED WITH BAER CHICAGO, August 8. Baer and Louis have been matched by a promoter. Jacobs, of New York, for a fight either on the twenty-sixth or twenty-seventh of September, either at New York or Chicago.
