GREYMOUTH TROTTING CLUB

ANNUAL REPORT The annual report to be presented by the President, Mr. H. W. Kitchingham, at the general meeting of members of the Greymduth Trotting Club on Wednesday, states that the 45th year of the Club’s existence disclosed a financial loss. In this respect, it was not singular, as many of the leading clubs had shown the same result. However, most of the industries on the West Coast were on an upward grade, and probably in no part of the Dominion was there a brighter outlook for the future than there was in this district. Bearing that in mind, Mr. Kitchingham says: “I think an endeavour should.be made to make our October meeting more successful than it has been for the last few years. This, I feel sure, can be done if we issue a programme that w’ill not only attract the horses, but by providing for a better class of horse, will be the means of attracting much larger attendances at the meeting. Outside of the racing, there is evidence that the club will receive increased revenue from football and other sports, and if we take advantage of the improved conditions, there is reason to think that at the end of the coming season, a much better statement will be produced.” The statement of receipts shows trotting gates for the year ended June 30 totalled £1302 1/6, and other gatemoney,. £3l 8/1.
