MR. LYONS’ TOUR
FOOD PRODUCTION. [by cable —press assn.—copyright.] OTTAWA, July 12. • “Trade expansion, rather than any production restriction is the present need, if any substantial recovery from the world depression is to come about,” said Mr J. A. Lyons, to-day. "I believe that the world can consume a lot more of the right kind of food than it now consumes. When Providence has given us an abundance of food, it is wrong to cut across the ends of God, and to deprive the people of the foods which are essential of their health and happiness.” Australians, he said, did not hope for an even balance of trade with Canada, because of special circumstances, but they would like to see the Canadian exports and imports come closer together. LIKES AND DISLIKES. TORONTO, July 12. In an address to the service club, Mr Lyons said he liked banks with balanced budgets, and markets for Australian wines. He disliked repudiation, and fantastic recovery schemes, and sees greatness for British Dominions in future. He asked for more balanced trade between Canada and Australia.
